Begin with, " The End In Mind"
Leaders know one of the best ways to keep moral high is to insure people understand how their role and performance is critical to the goals of the team. Effectively communicating the "End in Mind" throughout the team is a simple and powerful way to provide answers to every, "Why are we doing this?" In fact, if "Why are we doing this?" can't be answered, it's time to reconsider the tactical plan with, "The End in Mind!"
Again to our production line example, if the "end goal" is shipping by November 15th to meet the holiday shopping season, a pretty box that might cause the date to slip is easily dismissed as an inappropriate risk. Alternatively, the pretty box could be pursued with a plain box as a dependable backup.
"Beginning with the end in mind," yields two powerful benefits:
1. The efforts of people remain focused on the end-goal of the project.
2. People stay motivated, their moral high, and work as a cohesive, goal oriented, team.
