Unprecedented Size, Power Consumption, Speed

"The most significant factors in portable electronic design are size and power," said Adam Chen, senior product marketing manager at PLX. "With those considerations at the forefront, we designed the NET2272 to meet manufacturers' demands, while still achieving the highest-possible performance over USB 2.0. Furthermore, The NET2272's variable I/O voltage simplifies the connections to other low-power components."

The NET2272's 6x6mm, 64-ball, lead-free package; 40MBytes/sec. of sustained USB transfers; low power consumption (148mW active, 0.6uW standby); and variable I/O voltage of 2.5V to 5.0V deliver an unprecedented combination of size, power, and performance to portable applications, such as next-generation mobile phones, PDAs, and portable media players. The NET2272's local bus can connect directly (without the need for "glue logic") to the majority of the CPUs and DSPs used in these applications, since its interface appears as an SRAM, which most CPUs and DSPs support natively.
