Xilinx Reverse Engineering is needed more and more as the ongoing need for older designs surpasses the devices they were created with.
Often, original schematics and/or design files have long dissapeared or were never transferred as companies have been bought and merged.
Software compatibility is often top priorety and frequently an EXACT device is desired to minimize impact on other parts of the system and cooresponding compliance re-testing.
Xilinx Reverse Engineering can be accomplished in a number ways. Some are much easier and less expensive than others.
Potential starting points for Xilinx Reverse Engineering (from least to most expensive) include:
- Design files from an obsolete part
- Netlist files from an obsolete part
- Detailed Device Specifications of the original part
- Bitstream reverse engineering & Analysis of existing designs
